12/28/2006 - More Late & Post-Rut Success!!!

Happy Holidays!!!

Wow! Time has sure flown by this year. As our seasons winds down, we want to wish everyone the best over the holidays and thank you for your support. We got to meet so many great new people this year and are excited to see what 07' brings.

Just to give you all a heads up, next year Gettin Close will air reruns during the 1st and 2nd quarter on the Outdoor Channel and during 3rd and 4th quarter they will air 13 original episodes with 13 reruns. This next year you will also be able to see Gettin Close during Primetime slots!!!

Late season is here now and we've nailed down a few bruisers. Shawn Vanlandingham actually took his gun buck back in Late November, but we thought we'd post it for those who'd like to see it. Shawn was hunting over a known bedding area and knew it would only be a matter of time before a good buck would try to sneak in. Sure enough after patiently waiting all morning, Shawn made a great mid-day kill at 12:20 pm. The buck only made it 25yds before piling up. The rough score on this big forked buck is right around the 150" mark give or take.

Now Tiffany Lakosky decided to get a second shotgun tag after last years success. This time with the TC Pro Hunter and Lee behind the camera she was able to score on a big 10 pointer grossing 174". After hunting all over the country since August this made for a great addition to her successful season!! With a little more of season left, I am sure Lee and Tiffany will have more to report!!

I also wanted to share with you pictures of my Iowa Late Muzzleloader buck I shot recently. He too grosses 174". We have been after this buck for two years, naming him Jumping Jack because we have live camera footage of him from last year and he was jumping in and out of frame. This guy gave us trail pictures, Velvet footage, Sheds, and Don had an awesome encounter with him during the first part of bow season at 60yds. We decided to hunt a cut soybean field where Don had spotted him earlier in the season. Early in the day we went in and setup our Double Bull Blind up on top of the hill overlooking the soybean field. It worked perfect!! The buck came out at 4:30pm walked across the cut bean field to the standing beans we left on the edge of the field. He gave me a 100yd shot and the Thompson Center Pro Hunter smoked him!!!

Congrats to all!!
